North Carolina Elections 2022: Our members as candidates

We have a saying at Down Home and it goes like this: “It’s going to have to be us.” 

This year, Down Home has more members than ever before running for office in the important midterm elections. We believe that if want real change, we are going to have to be the people who make it. That’s why our members are running for office on platforms that support multiracial, working class needs. 

Sabrina Berry

Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners

Our members have endorsed Sabrina Berry, long time Down Home Cabarrus member for County Commission. Cabarrus County is rapidly changing and we need to make sure it’s growth includes all of us. Sabrina is the person for the job.

Sean Ewing

NC Senate 25

Our members have endorsed Sean Ewing, a member of our Down Home Alamance chapter.  Sean is a well known and we always see him about town. He is experienced and committed to fighting for working class families. We love to see him run and has our vote all the way.

Terry Garrison

NC House District 32

Our members have endorsed Terry Garrison, a member of our Down Home Granville chapter.  Running for re-election. Terry stands for what we stand for: Voting rights, affordable housing, Medicaid expansion, good schools…. this list goes on!

Wendy Ella May

NC House District 28

Wendy Ella May is running for NC House and is a member of our Johnston County chapter. A veteran, a small business owner, and a parent, Wendy Ella May will fight for the things working families need in JoCo. She is a fighter who supports policy for people, not for corporate interests.

NC House District 64

Our members have endorsed Ron Osborne, a member of our Alamance County chapter. Ron closely aligns with our values and platform– he will fight for public education, affordable housing, healthcare, and other issues that working families need addressed in Raleigh, all while being a hometown guy.

Alamance County Commission

A member of our Alamance County chapter, Anthony Peirce is our choice for Alamance County Commission. Anthony would fight for our public schools, affordable housing, and smart growth in our changing county while protecting our farmland and natural resources.

Keshia Sandidge

NC Senate 34

Keshia Sandidge is a member of our Cabarrus County chapter and is running for NC Senate 64. Keshia is currently serving on the Cabarrus County School Board, a position our members endorsed her for and helped her win in 2020. She’s been a steadfast advocate for our children, teachers, and schools and is a dedicated, compassionate leader. With her platform supporting healthcare, wages, housing, and other working class needs, we know Keshia will represent us well in Raleigh!
