More than 500,000 people have died from COVID-19 in the U.S. 11,097 of those deaths have been here, in North Carolina. They were our neighbors. They were our loved ones.
A leading medical journal tells us that nearly 40% of those deaths were avoidable. And we KNOW that nearly all of the pain of this crisis is still avoidable – the pending eviction crisis, the essential workers who still lack worker protections, the many of us who continue to stare down this pandemic with no health insurance coverage and no way to go to the doctor if we were to become sick. If we believe that WE are the government and that Congress works for us… we can still do something about this.
We need relief. It should have happened a long time ago, but we will do what we can to make it happen now.
This week, the House of Representatives is considering the next COVID-19 relief package in Washington. Republicans and even some Democrats are dragging their feet on getting a full, strong response that eases the suffering of so many of us.
The relief package contains many things, including another round of stimulus checks for most households– but one really important component included in the package is a financial incentive that could compel the North Carolina General Assembly to finally pass Medicaid expansion in our state.
Contact your representative in Congress TODAY to tell them to pass the FULL COVID RELIEF PACKAGE including these incentives!
