IMMIGRATION:
  • Supports a pathway to citizenship for  undocumented immigrants already in the country  
  • Supports securing borders – reforms must reduce wait times for legal immigration,  improve visa programs and ensure a fair and efficient asylum program
  • Will fight to protect the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program
CRIMINAL JUSTICE:
  • First Chief Justice in the nation to speak out against the use of force in the killing of George Floyd
  • Expanded drug treatment and mental health courts  
  • Expanded School Justice Partnerships – addressing the school-to-prison pipeline 
  • Supports legalizing and regulating cannabis 
  • Supports expanding the use of drug treatment and mental health courts  
  • Supports the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act 
  • Supports reforms that establish accountability, increase transparency and add resources to public safety 
  • Supports investing in resources for alternative first responders like mental health  professionals and substance abuse counselors

VETERAN SERVICES:
  • Expand investments to increase pay for service members, improve the infrastructure of  VA health care facilities, increase resources for military families and expand the range of  services the VA provides

VOTING RIGHTS:
  • Opposes extreme gerrymandering 
  • Supports the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, which protect and promote transparency, fair districting, voting by mail, reducing long lines on election day.
