Despite our very powerful vigil highlighting the death and suffering caused by not expanding Medicaid, our legislators are still refusing to vote on this issue when they return to Raleigh on Tuesday, August 23.
Instead of moving forward and expanding healthcare for 600,000 North Carolinians who cannot wait any longer, our lawmakers are playing blame games and making excuses for their continued inaction.
That is why we have planned two actions with the People’s Budget Coalition, a Tweetstorm and a Press Conference, next week to send a clear message to our lawmakers – Stop playing political games with the lives and well-being of North Carolina families – Expand Medicaid Now.
On Tuesday, August 23rd, at 10am, we will return to the front of the NC General Assembly for a press conference that lays out, once again, everything our state and people can gain when North Carolina expands Medicaid. Dreama Caldwell will be joining other speakers and Down Home members invite you to show up or watch the livestream of the press conference which will be on the NC Justice Center Facebook page or on Down Home’s Instagram feed.
