Our Electoral Work

Each Down Home chapter is led by local residents, so the issues that we organize around are always locally-based. Throughout the year, members engage in and build projects that help serve and meet the immediate needs of their communities, such as our Alamance County Bail Fund.

However, we know that these community issues that we are addressing are inherently political. That is why Down Home also builds power for poor and working folks through the electoral process, especially at the local level.

Down Home members can serve on their committee to help create their chapter platform, interview local candidates, and vote on which candidates the chapter will be endorsing. If you are interested in getting involved in this work with your local chapter, consider joining our membership!
